The scheme involved Brown pretending to be the owner of the company and creating a fake account with a payment processing service linked to her personal bank account. She generated fake invoices, paid them with company funds, and funneled the money into her personal account.
Brown’s trusted position within the company allowed her to hide her embezzlement scheme for nearly five years until she was confronted by a manager. Following an investigation by the Richmond Police Department and financial forensic analysts, Brown was arrested on April 19 and is being held on $2 million bail at the Martinez Detention Facility.
