Devon Energy Corporation has announced that Jeremy Humphers, the Senior Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer, is retiring from the company. Humphers will step down from his current role effective March 8, 2024. John Sherrer will succeed Humphers as Vice President, Accounting & Controller and will be designated as the company’s principal accounting officer.

In a statement, Jeff Ritenour, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, expressed his gratitude to Humphers for his contributions during his 20-year career with Devon Energy. Ritenour described Humphers as a leader who demonstrated technical excellence, fostered innovation, leveraged technology, and exemplified the company’s value of integrity.

The company also announced the promotion of John Sherrer to Vice President, Accounting & Controller. Sherrer has been a member of Devon’s accounting team for 12 years and has served in various roles with increasing responsibility. He most recently led the company’s Financial Accounting group. Prior to joining Devon, Sherrer worked in public accounting with KPMG in audit. He holds Bachelor’s and Master’s of Science degrees in Accounting and is a certified public accountant.
