Elon Student Accounting Award

TLDR:

– Cailin Daigle, a cheerleader and accounting major at Elon University, received a Legacy Scholarship from the AICPA.
– She switched her major to accounting and is part of an accelerated 3+1 program at Elon, set to obtain both a bachelor’s and master’s degree by next spring.

Cailin Daigle, a student at Elon University from Clayton, received a Legacy Scholarship from the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants for her outstanding achievements in accounting. When Daigle first enrolled at Elon, she planned to major in interior design, but after hearing an accounting professor describe the field as a combination of math, music theory, and computer science, she made a decisive switch.

Daigle’s involvement in the Beta Alpha Psi honor society for accounting, finance, and information systems has been crucial in her advancement. She credits the connections and opportunities she has gained through this organization for her success.

Despite her dedication to her accounting career, Daigle also maintains her passion for cheerleading, having been involved in the sport since the age of 5. She recently auditioned for the U.S. Olympic Cheer Team and secured a position with the National Cheer Association this summer.

Her experiences in cheerleading, paired with internships at RSM in New York City and other organizations, have taught her valuable skills like perseverance that she believes will help her excel in her future career as an accountant.
