Billy Holbert, founder of The Accounting Group, passed away on November 28 at the age of 91. Holbert was known for his hard work and dedication to his clients, often going above and beyond to ensure their taxes were done on time. He served in the Navy during the Korean War and earned a degree in accounting before starting his own accounting firm, which is now known as The Accounting Group. Holbert’s business partner, Charlyne Murphy, praised him for teaching her everything she knows about the business. Many of Holbert’s clients considered him not only their tax man but also a confidant. He was remembered as a genuine, kind-hearted, and personable businessman. Holbert is survived by his son, Larry, three granddaughters, and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sons and a daughter.
